Young athlete standing at a mountain summit, embodying determination and leadership

Our story

Leadership is a behavior, not a title.

Pathfinder was built for the teenager who takes themselves seriously — the one who wants to be better, not just recognized for being good.

Why we exist

Help young people define success and lead through action.

Most leadership programs teach teenagers to talk about leadership. Pathfinder teaches them to practice it — through structured lessons, real reflection, and accountability to a plan they build themselves.

We believe the skills that make a great teammate also make a great student, a great colleague, and a great person. The 10-Waypoint Journey is designed so every lesson produces something usable: a decision framework, a habit, a conversation, a plan.

Pathfinder is not a motivational app. It is a development platform — built for athletes and emerging leaders ages 13–18 who are ready to do the work.

The founder

Nic Grey

Founder, Pathfinder Leadership

Nic Grey began military training at 17. From day one, he was immersed in an environment where leadership wasn't a concept — it was a daily practice. The Army doesn't wait for you to figure it out. It teaches you, tests you, and holds you to a standard.

In Iraq, Nic found himself surrounded by exceptional operators and leaders who understood something most people never act on: it's their responsibility to shape the next generation. They invested in the people around them — not because it was required, but because they knew that's how leadership actually transfers.

That experience became the blueprint for Pathfinder. Not the hardship — the investment. The deliberate, structured, daily act of developing the people next to you. Nic built Pathfinder to bring that same standard to teenagers who deserve more than a motivational speech.

"The best leaders I ever met didn't wait to be asked. They made it their job to develop the people around them. That's what Pathfinder is."

What we are — and aren't

The development layer alongside the tools you already use.

Pathfinder is not a team-management app. We don't compete with scheduling software, rosters, or logistics tools. We are the player-growth and young-person-development layer that sits alongside what organizations already use — focused entirely on who the athlete is becoming, not just what they're doing.

What we stand for

Principles that shape everything we build.

Action before theory

Every module ends with something to do, not just something to think about. Leadership is built in practice, not in passive consumption.

The teen journey first

Parents and coaches matter — but the student is the primary product. Every design decision protects and centers the teen's experience.

No shame-based leaderboards

Progress is visible without creating unhealthy competition. We measure growth, not rank.

Skills that transfer

Sport is the entry point, not the ceiling. Every lesson is designed to apply on the field, in school, at home, and in future work.

Safe by design

Every community feature is moderated and age-appropriate. No private messaging between adults and students. No exceptions.

Clarity over inspiration

We don't do vague motivational content. Pathfinder gives teenagers clear frameworks, specific language, and repeatable habits.

Who we serve

Built for every person in a young leader's corner.
